Barry’s Running review 2024
Following the 2023 Dublin marathon I was looking to change up my training. For years I had trained 3 times a week, typically Monday, Wednesday and Saturday long runs. I came across Run2the top on Instagram and as you do I looked to see what kind of training was being suggested. I watched a few videos and I liked the sound of the information that was being shared.
I messaged Jacqueline and we agreed to do a video call to see if her training model was something I would be interested in. I went away for a week or two and thought about it and looked at different training ideas before I decided to give Run 2 the top a go. Training commented in February and when I gave Jacqueline the races that I was planned on entering for the year she started drawing up the training plan. My target race was the Dublin marathon.
Jacqueline outlined the training plan to me and the different stages of the training pyramid. We worked our way up through the training pyramid from nice easy running into the hills to build strength. Then we concentrated on speed by introducing specific intervals, time trails and strategically placed races - then plenty of taper so you were ready to take flight on the starting line.
The training was very well structured and I found all the directions to be very clear. I could always send a Whatsapp or email to check anything. When training commenced I found it hard. The adjustment from going out and doing a lively run to watching my heart rate was huge. I was running easy and slow to start with. I was bouncing out of bed in the morning to do the runs and the I found the variation or runs interesting. Jacqueline was always eager to explain the idea behind each training section be it hills or speed and she was always
able to back up advice with evidence.
Ever few weeks we had a video call where we reviewed the training since the previous call and the schedule for the next few weeks. I found the calls very interesting as Jacqueline was regularly pointing out things that I wasn't seeing until they were pointed out to me.
Result:
I completed the Dublin marathon in 3:56 (PB for Dublin) Best marathon result for 10 years. Most comfortable marathon yet.
Conclusion:
As Jacqueline is a runner herself it came across very early on that she has a huge running knowledge. I found her to be very approachable and very eager so share her knowledge. While the training pan was excellently structured, Jacqueline was flexible in changing it up to accommodate races or holidays. I have already discussed next years plan with Jacqueline and I will definitely be availing of her service again next year.

Since writing this review - Barry has also ran his fastest Half Marathon in 14 years.
I decided last December to get a running coach becaue I needed accountability. I was very unfit and my run times were getting slower. Going with Jacqueline has been a great move. I’m running injury free and getting fitter over the months. My 10k race times have came down by over 15 mins. And all of this is done with slow heart rate training. Jacqueline has brought my running on in leaps and bounds. I’m fitter and healthier than I have been in years. She’s very supportive and always at hand with great advice. In 2025 my plan is a sub 10km for my 50th birthday. We’re calling it ‘project sub 50 before 50’

Exceptional Running Coach
Jacqueline Delivers Results! I cannot recommend my running coach, Jacqueline, highly enough. I decided to hire Jacqueline after seeing the evident success she had with some running buddies. My main goal was to become more consistent in my training and to approach it in a smarter way. Since starting with Jacqueline, I have been training consistently five days a week, something I initially found challenging, but now consider very doable thanks to her guidance. Jacqueline's expertise shines through in her training programs. I simply follow her instructions, knowing that they are designed to help me run smartly. What sets Jacqueline apart is her availability and willingness to address any questions or issues that may arise during my training. She provides valuable advice and support in every circumstance, making the training process smoother and more enjoyable. Thanks to Jacqueline's coaching, I am already seeing improvements in my performance and I am eager to continue progressing. A recent Park Run saw me a few seconds off a PB I set quite a while back. I am particularly excited about the prospect of enhancing my 10k times under her guidance. If you are looking for a dedicated coach who delivers results and genuinely cares about your progress, Jacqueline is the perfect choice.
